Perfect for kayak deck!
I’m using this for a minimal kit: Olympus OMD-E5 with 14-150mm lens and hood. Spare battery. Couple of lens wipes, and space for lens cap if I’m keeping the camera ready for photos. Could have fit that into smaller footprint, but needed the height of the 905 for this camera. I voided the warranty on the case the day it arrived by drilling a couple holes through the ribs under the hinges and putting some pins through those. These combined with the pins on the front meant for a shoulder strap mean I can lash the case to a kayak foredeck but still open it to get the camera while afloat. I’ve used foam and bungees to attach the flat case to a peaked kayak deck; these mean I can also push the whole thing forward to make space for hard paddling across open water, or pull it closer for easier access when lily-dipping along something scenic or wildlife-y.
Works as advertised
Great case quality you'd expect for the price probably going to need to get a bigger case in the near future because the 905 won't support much in the way of camera accessories but I knew that going in
Really happy with my purchase. Exactly as advertised. I will definitely purchase other Nanuk case in the future. Service was also excellent. I highly recommend this product.
This is a great case. I use mine as an AmateurRadio Go Kit. It contains a small Wi-Fi router, a battery, and a Digital Handheld radio. The Wi-Fi connects to the internet via an iPhone.
Nanuk 905 - the near-perfect prototype case
We purchased the 905 with the transparent acrylic panel to showcase our ultra-low power IoT sensors and gateways to our clients. The size is perfect for this type of thing, and our clients were impressed BEFORE seeing the contents of the case. Just the sturdiness, the « impossible to accidentally open » latches (for my 8-year-old son, they were actually near-impossible to open - intentionally), that was all that was needed for the « wow » factor. The clincher is when you open it and that your hardware is neatly mounted on the panel. Usually, such features are only available on bigger cases. The ONLY thing I would like is a lid panel for this exact same case. I guess I’ll have to get the 910 for that.
